A Brief History

Sierra was founded with a goal of bringing high-resolution pressure imaging to the medical community for the diagnosis of motility disorders within the GI tract. Starting in 1999, a group of leading scientists and engineers was formed that included Dr’s Ray Clouse in clinical application; Sergiy Kanilo in image processing software; and Jae Son, Bill Peine, and Tom Parks in sensor systems, instrumentation, and product development. The team received exceptionally high scientific review scores in its applications for a series of Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The resulting awards provided the R&D funding that enabled development of the ManoScan 360™ system.

Leadership

	Tom Parks, Ph.D., President & CEO Tom Parks, has more than 20 years of experience in technology development, corporate management, and entrepreneurial business. He has led technology teams in major developments involving aerospace systems and medical products and has successfully co-founded and grown technology based businesses. Dr. Parks led the development of the ManoScan system and is responsible for the operation and overall direction of the company.

	Jim Pittman, MBA/MHA,Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing Jim has excelled in sales and leadership positions regionally, nationally and internationally with Fortune 500 companies in the medical device industry for 26 years. His contributions to computerized manometry & pH development and sales positioned a previous company as the world leader in these modalities and helped lead to the company’s acquisition by a major medical device manufacturer. He leads all sales, marketing and business development efforts worldwide.

	Ron McIntyre, BSIA, Chief Financial Officer & Vice President Business Operations Ron has more than 25 years of financial management and leadership experience in public and private companies. He has served as Controller, CFO, COO, General Manager and Principal in high-tech equipment and instrumentation manufacturing companies and has broad experience in business operations, finance, and strategic transactions. Ron leads finance and business operations for the company.

	Eric Finkelman MSME, Vice President Operations and Engineering Eric brings more than 9 years of experience in managing product development, business, and manufacturing operations in technology driven companies. Eric has a proven track record in establishing and maintaing efficient operational and business processes using current best practice methods. He leads company operations including supply chain, manufacturing, administration, and project management.

	Jeffrey Sawyer BSAME, Director of Global Marketing and Product Development Jeff's experience spans more than 20 years in the medical product industry with substantial involvement in GI diagnostics. He has intimate knowledge of and proven abilities in product development, clinical application and training, and sales and marketing management within this industry. Jeff leads marketing and certain product development activities for the company.

	Gary Carruthers BSBA, National Sales Manager Gary has more than 24 year experience in the medical industry with three fortune 500 companies. He has extensive knowledge and a proven track record in sales and education management and support. Gary has held positions as Regional Sales Trainer, National Manager for Clinical Education for all GI and Urology Diagnostics, Implant Sales Specialists and Diagnostics Sales Representative. Gary is responsible for all US Sales management activities for the company.
